Meet the DEADLOX team!

DEADLOX Team 4484 is comprised of 10 students from DuBois Area High School in DuBois PA. Working as a branch of Pennsylvania 4-H, these students were able to come together for a common cause: to build a robot and compete in the FIRST Robotics Pittsburgh Regional!

The team members voted for management positions in the group (such as President, Vice President, etc.) to give each student a sense of responsibility and to improve their leadership skills. The following is a list of how the members voted on roles within the team:

      Andrew -- President

      Padon -- Vice President

      Alaina -- Treasurer

      Alex -- Secretary

      Veronica -- Communications Officer

      Neel -- Safety Captain

      Amir -- Team Ambassador

      Brianna -- Mascot

Also on the team are Kameron and Zach who find responsibility within their subcommittees.

The team members broke into subcommittees in order to make the build session run more smoothly. The subcommittees include the Build Team (Andrew, Padon, Alaina, Kameron, and Zach), Programming (Padon, Zach, Alaina, and Andrew), Public Relations and Marketing (Brianna, Neel, Alex, Amir, and Veronica), and Safety (Neel). These groups are not restrictive, however, and team members can easily share ideas with one another about any aspect of the team to help make DEADLOX Robotics the best it can be!

Wonderful mentors also help to make the team a success! Jana, a 4-H leader, presented the idea to 4-H and was successful in organizing a robotics team as a club of Clearfield County. She understands the the knowledge that FIRST can provide for a teenager and, as a 4-H leader who seeks to improve teen leadership, knew that a FIRST Robotics team would be a great opportunity for the students of Central Pennsylvania. Dave, a parent of one of the team members, has experience with building tools and equipment, and instructs the students how to operate machinery in a proper and safe way.  Ted, also experienced in manufacturing, helps to guide the team in building the most efficient robot and even provides custom parts for building. Mentors also include Dr. Feldbaur (a professor at the local college), Crystal, Paige, Grace, Susan, Anita, J.R., Brandon, Kelly, and Tina. The mentors of DEADLOX help to make the team a success by guiding the members in the right direction while also letting the students be in charge of the team.

With all the amazing people involved in DEADLOX Team 4484, it's sure to be a great season!
